March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day where. The commemoration aims to uphold equal rights between men and women. However, the reality in society shows that the problem of violence against women and the protection of women victims of violence in the legal field is still very low
In commemoration of International Women's Day 2023, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UMSBY presented “WONDER WOMEN” 2 series of activities that were held on March 11-12 2023 with the theme "Become a Strong Woman". On Saturday, March 11, 2023, basic self-defense training was carried out in collaboration with Tapak Suci, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya. This activity was attended by 39 members of SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UMSBY and 5 trainers. The concept of activity begins with a warm-up, followed by delivering material about the basics of self-defense, especially those aimed at protecting oneself when in a desperate situation such as experiencing a crime. After delivering the material, it was followed self-defense practices by each participant under the guidance of the trainer. Then this activity was closed with a meal with all participants, committee, and trainers.
The second activity was held on Sunday, March 12, 2023. An online talk show with 2 speakers, namely Mr. Samsul Arifin, S.H., M.H as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya, and Mrs. Dr. Dewi Ilma Antawati, S.Psi., M.Psi, Psychologist as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya. This talk show raised the topic of the impacts of sexual violence which were reviewed from a legal and psychological perspective was conveyed by the two sources above by their fields, then 3 days before the talk show an open question box was held via Instagram, and answered by the resource person on this talk show. The talk show was successfully attended by 41 participants and there was an increase in the pre-test to post-test scores with an average of 80. Simultaneously with the implementation of the two series of activities above, live reports were distributed via Instagram CIMSA UMSBY, and approximately 200 impressions were obtained. It is hoped that the commemoration of International Women's Day can add insight to all parties involved and can be used as provisions in living daily life.
