WONDER (Maintain Women's Power Against Violence and Sexual Harassment) 2023 is a project organized by DORP and DORA MSCIA UB in commemoration of International Women's Day. The results of the pre-activity assessment in the form of a questionnaire distributed to 43 respondents consisting of the general public showed that all respondents believed that early marriage had the potential to cause violence against women.
This problem made us organize WONDER to increase the knowledge of high school students, FK UB students, and the general public about early marriage and violence against women, including efforts that can be made to solve these problems. In addition, WONDER also aims to form a caring attitude while training participants to become peer educators who can educate people around them about sexual violence and early marriage.
WONDER 2023 activities consist of several series. The first series is a pre-activity training activity for DORP and DORA members on March 25, 2023. This training was delivered by PETRA and HREF. The next activity was a ground campaign at CFD Idjen Malang City on March 12, 2023. The activity began with a long march accompanied by speeches on early marriage and violence against women. The activity then continued with the distribution of leaflets to educate the surrounding community and the Stamp For Support campaign.
On March 15, 2023, WONDER held a radio broadcast on Kalimaya Bhaskara radio by bringing in psychologists from Langkahati to discuss cases of early marriage and violence against women.
The activity continued with the main event on March 19, 2023, consisting of a talk show presented by speakers from IDAI, KPuK, and Komnas Perempuan. The activity then continued with SWG which involved all participants to discuss cases related to early marriage and find solutions. We also held challenges and an online campaign from March 23, 2023, to April 7, 2023.
All WONDER 2023 activities went smoothly. The long march was attended by 53 people and we managed to educate 115 people about early marriage through the leaflets we distributed. The main event was successfully attended by 88 people which consisted of 30 representatives of high school students in Malang and 58 participants from medical students, the women’s community, and the general public. The questionnaire showed that 100% of participants found this event useful. Meanwhile, a total of 36 people participated in the air campaign organized by WONDER 2023.
