WOLF
(World Cancer Day with CIMSA FK YARSI)
CIMSA FK YARSI
The number of people living with cancer worldwide has increased every year. Based on data from GLOBOCAN 2020, an estimated 19 million new cancer cases have emerged. In the same year, there were 9 million cancer deaths. The number of sufferers is expected to increase every year and is estimated to reach 23.6 million new cases per year by 2030. One of the biggest problems in cancer prevention today is the amount of information that cannot be accounted for in the community. One of the critical efforts to overcome the cancer problem in Indonesia is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. As many as 43% of all cancer cases can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, 30% of patients can be cured if found and treated early (Source: International Agency for Research on Cancer. WHO, 2020; The Global Cancer Observatory, 2020).
Based on this background, CIMSA FK YARSI collaborated with SEMA FK YARSI to hold WOLF activity (World Cancer Day with CIMSA FK YARSI). Besides commemorating World Cancer Day, which is celebrated on February 4, this event also aims to increase the community and medical students' knowledge, awareness, and concern.
The commemoration of World Cancer Day on February 4, 2021, by conducting an air campaign in the form of twibbons and posters with exciting caption and hashtags on each Instagram carried out by all members of CIMSA FK YARSI and members of SEMA FK YARSI.
The number that posted twibbons of World Cancer Day from CIMSA FK YARSI and SEMA FK YARSI members exceeded the minimum target of more than 30 people, with an average number of likes above 50. For viewers of posters on Instagram story CIMSA FK YARSI, it received 181 viewers. These results indicate that the community and medical students, especially YARSI University medical students' knowledge, awareness, and concern regarding World Cancer Day commemoration, are increasing.
By carrying out this project, we hope to add insight and public awareness about the importance of maintaining a good lifestyle and early detection to prevent cancer.
