(The Important Thing of Antenatal Care in Pandemic)

Maternal health refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. Each stage should be a positive experience, ensuring women and their babies reach their full potential for health and well-being. Every pregnancy and birth is unique. Addressing inequalities that affect health outcomes, especially sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender is fundamental to ensure all women have access to respectful and high-quality maternity care.

Within the continuum of reproductive health care, antenatal care (ANC) provides appropriate information and advice for pregnant and fertile women to ensure their future. Antenatal care (ANC) can be defined as the care provided by skilled healthcare professionals to pregnant women and adolescent girls in order to ensure the best health conditions for both mother and baby during pregnancy, safe childbirth, and postnatal recovery, including care of the newborn, promotion of early, exclusive breastfeeding, and assistance with deciding on future pregnancies in order to improve pregnancy outcomes. ANC reduces maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality directly through detection and treatment of pregnancy-related complications and indirectly by identifying women and girls at increased risk of developing complications, thus ensuring referral to an appropriate level of care.

In 2021, to celebrate CIMSA Anniversary Project, SCORA CIMSA FK Unila held TITANIC (The Important Thing of Antenatal Care in Pandemic). This campaign aims to increase public knowledge and awareness in general and SCORA CIMSA FK Unila on how important ANC is even during a pandemic, with the main target being a pregnant and fertile woman.

Because of the pandemic, the event was held online on March 13th, 2020. A webinar via Zoom meeting started at 13.00 until 15.00 WIB with the topic about antenatal care in pandemic and talk show session. It was delivered by dr. Rodiani, S.Ked., M.Sc., Sp.OG. as a representative of POGI Lampung. The purpose is to increase the audience's knowledge about the importance of antenatal care, especially in a pandemic situation.

Although it is pretty challenging to understand, this needs to be understood to prevent unwanted things and achieve a better life. Women's health before and during pregnancy has a lifelong impact on their baby's health. For this reason, antenatal care also needs to be informed to husbands and family members.
