On August 24-25, 2024, SCOPH and SCORP CIMSA FK Unila successfully hosted “THEATRE: Eat Healthy, Be Happy with the Vulnerable Children,” an impactful event celebrating International Children's Day. This initiative aimed to address the critical issue of malnutrition among children with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy living practices.

Malnutrition remains a significant challenge in Indonesia, particularly affecting children with disabilities. Research indicates that around 90% of children with Cerebral Palsy experience feeding difficulties, leading to poor health outcomes and, in extreme cases, early death. In Lampung Province, where malnutrition rates among children and adolescents are concerning, this event sought to address these issues directly by enhancing awareness and knowledge.

The two-day event featured a range of activities designed to educate and engage participants. It began with an informative seminar led by experts, focusing on the nutritional needs of children with disabilities and the importance of healthy lifestyle practices. Participants included 24 organizing committee (OC) members, 10 volunteers, and 20 parents of children with disabilities. The seminar was followed by practical sessions where participants learned to measure anthropometric data and interpret Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations. These skills are crucial for assessing and ensuring proper nutritional intake for children with special needs.

In addition to educational sessions, THEATRE included interactive workshops, games, and drawing activities that fostered a supportive environment for learning. These activities were not only engaging but also provided practical experience in applying nutritional knowledge. The event aimed to improve the skills of both SCOPH and SCORP members, as well as the broader community, in effectively supporting children with disabilities.

The benefits of THEATRE extended beyond immediate educational outcomes. For parents, it offered valuable insights into meeting their children's nutritional needs and implementing healthy lifestyle practices. For children with disabilities at SLB Bina Insani, the event contributed to better daily nutritional intake. The community at SLB Bina Insani also gained access to improved sanitation facilities and continued education on healthy living practices.
