Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health and UNAIDS (Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS), the estimated number of people with HIV in Indonesia in 2018 was 641,675 people with a total of 46,372 new infections and 38,734 deaths.

In addition to the increase in HIV and AIDS cases, stigma and discrimination become social punishment by the community, not only in Indonesia but also in all parts of the world. This act of discrimination makes people eventually unable to take preventive measures for HIV and tend to hide the situation. This can make things worse and create an uncontrolled spread.

Through STIGMA, it is hoped that the people of Malang City can understand that people with HIV / AIDS or PLWHA are not someone who is dangerous and should be avoided, but are people who must be embraced to continue to maintain their spirit and not be excluded from the social environment. In addition, it is also expected that the public can have a deeper knowledge of HIV/AIDS.

STIGMA is one of the activities at CIMSA UMM held in commemoration of World AIDS Day which falls on December 1, 2022. There are several interventions carried out, namely Air Campaign, Pre-project Training, and Ground Campaign.

The Air Campaign will be held from 4-20 December 2022 through Instagram. CIMSA UMM members, especially SCORA members, posted photos/videos showing their participation in commemorating World AIDS Day.

Pre-project Training was held on Sunday, November 20, 2022. This activity is carried out to improve the knowledge of members so that later they can become peer educators in the surrounding environment. This Training was filled by 2 PETRA CIMSA UMM, namely Ridlo Febriansyah and Giftan Khansa.

The last event was the Ground Campaign which was held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Car Free Day Ijen Malang. The Ground Campaign was carried out by distributing leaflets containing education about HIV/AIDS and explaining directly about the education. Members also distributed lollipops to the community as a reminder of WAD.

OC gained a lot of experience during organizing this event and with the participants. Malang citizens showed great enthusiasm as seen in their positive feedback on the activities. Overall, these activities are intended to empower future medical students and improve the nation's health according to the CIMSA Program: HIV/AIDS and other STIs.
