SPEARS 3rd INTERVENTION

(School Peer Educator Recruits)

SCORA CIMSA UNAIR

Based on the 2017 SKDI Youth Report, the largest proportion of dating for the first time was in the range of 15-17 years. In 2015, Global School Health Survey in Indonesia shows adolescents aged 12-19 have had sexual intercourse for the first time before the age of 14. There are 45 percent of women and 44 percent of men dating at that age range.

Community Development "School Peer Educator Recruits" or SPEARS is carried out in order to support the realm of SCORA "Comprehensive Sexuality Education."SPEARS has four series of events; those are three interventions and one bonding event. The first intervention was held on November 15th, 2020 and followed by its second intervention on December 6th, 2020. After two interventions, we held a Bonding Event with the community which was held on March 27, 2021. In the other hand, third intervention held on April 17, 2021.

In the third intervention, we talked about Healthy Relationship and Self-love. The first session began with the material on healthy relationship that was delivered by Citra Benazir, Co-director Hollaback Jakarta and the second session is about self-love that was delivered by Neira A. Budiono, Co-founder tabu.id. These two sessions handled by a moderator.

The first session started with movie review to talk about how healthy relationship should be. In the next session, we were given a material about self-love description, self-love impact on several things, and its relation to sexual and reproductive health. Before and after these two sessions, the community were given a pre-test and post-test.

The main purpose of holding SPEARS is to give the high school students from Surabaya about comprehensive sexual education in order to make them peer educator. Another purpose is to tell the community of high school students and CIMSA members themselves about how healthy relationship should be and self-love.

At the end of the event, we gave an explanation about the challenge “Never Have I Ever Bingo” we would like to give to the participants and announced the winner of games and quizzes we were holding.

SPEARS was closed with a group photo and we sincerely hope that our activities can give such a good impact for the cadres and share what they have gotten in this intervention. We also hope this cadres will attend the next intervention that might be held in the future.
