SKIPPING 2.0

(SKRIPSI TRAINING 2.0)

SCORE CIMSA UPH

Skripsi/ Thesis is one of the new criteria to graduate faculty of medicine (S. Ked) in Indonesia. Essentially, it is a scientific writing that includes written explanation of research that discusses a problem or phenomenon in a particular field of science abided by certain rules and a format, and must be submitted for thesis defence by the end of the 3.5 years of Medicine undergraduate study.

Due to it being a new criterion, it is common that medicine students feel overwhelmed and anxious about it. questions such as “How do I write a Thesis?”,” What are the essential elements of a Thesis?” lingers in the minds of these aspiring medical students.

To mitigate this, SCORE CIMSA UPH, as a part of CIMSA UPH that is thoroughly engaged in research and scientific writings decided that it was best to cultivate basic knowledge and inculcate familiarity on Thesis writing through an event entitled SKIPPING (skripsi training).

What differentiates SKIPPING 2.0 from the past SKIPPING is from its ambitious target of not only UPH students but Medical Students in Indonesia, and an addition of a tutoring segment that is hoped to be a supplementary to the already effective webinar that was held on the past SKIPPING event.

The preparation for such a project dates back 1 month from its effective date, starting from October, with the effective date of the project being held on 28 November 2020, with a 4-hour duration. In this project, students are firstly equipped with basic thesis writing knowledge and its tedious yet specific format, through a 40 minute webinar lecture (and a short QnA session) that was brought by Mr Veli Sungono, S.KM,MS ,an epidemiologist with years of experience in writing research papers, with the topic “Perancangan Skripsi yang Baik dan Benar”, It was then followed by a 1 hour Tutoring Session with esteemed tutors with an approximate of 7-9 students per room.

In total, there were 6 tutors which were external partners spanning from graduates of medicine from UPH until doctors from UI.

Last but not the least rounding up this project, is a motivation session for 1 hour hosted by dr. Andree Kurniawan, Sp.PD., Vice Dean of Student Affairs, with the topic “Meningkatkan Motivasi Selama Menjalani Skripsi”

It is hoped that through this event, students may come to embrace this new criterion and serves as their introduction to the vast world of thesis writing.
