Sexual violence is still a threatening danger, especially for women. According to data from Komnas Perempuan, in 2022 there were reports of 3,014 cases of sexual violence and there may be still many cases that are not reported by victims due to various factors. And it cannot be denied that sexual violence is very detrimental because it has an impact on the physical and psychological aspects of the victim.

Therefore, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UNEJ held an activity called SEROTONIN (Self-Defense Awareness to Stop Violence Against Women) as our action against sexual violence. Apart from that, this activity is also to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023. Through Serotonin, we held pre-activity training, on-air radio broadcasts, talk shows, and self-defense training.

To start this activity, we held an online pre-activity training on March 9th, 2023 through ZOOM which was attended by 21 members of SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UNEJ. This training discussed "Sexual Violence against Women" with Ni Made Agustina Indraningsih (PETRA SCORA CIMSA UNEJ) as a speaker. On March 10th, 2023, M. Insan Rahmatan L.A. (member of SCORA CIMSA UNEJ) and Ika Sasongko (member of SCORP CIMSA UNEJ) held an on-air radio broadcast with RRI PRO 2 Jember Radio which talked about "Sexual Violence against Women".

Our main event was held on March 12th, 2023 in FK UNEJ, we held a talk show talked about "Sexual Violence Against Women and How to Prevent It" with Solehati Nofitasari, S.H., M.H. from DP3AKB (Dinas Pemberdayaan Perempuan, Perlindungan Anak Dan Keluarga Berencana) and Fitriyah Fajarwati, S.H. from GPP (Gerakan Peduli Perempuan) Jember as the speakers.

The talk show was attended by 30 female students at the University of Jember from various faculties. After the talk show, we held a self-defense training with UKM Merpati Putih UNEJ.

We hope this talk show and self-defense training can improve the prevention of sexual violence against women skills. We also held a challenge after the main event by creating an Instagram story with the topic of a message for women about IWD 2023 using the SEROTONIN filter that is accessible on the CIMSA UNEJ Instagram account, and this challenge has been participated by 10 accounts. Overall, the SEROTONIN (Self-Defense Awareness to Stop Violence Against Women) activity went very well.
