SEMANGKA 1st INTERVENTION
CIMSA FK YARSI
According to available data provided by the Sample Registration System (SRS) Indonesia on 2014, hypertension with complications (5,3%) is the 5th highest cause of death for all ages. The prevalence of hypertension based on assessment on 18-year-old citizens is as high as 34.1%. The aforementioned datas illustrate that hypertension is a very serious and fatal problem for many people. As such, it is necessary to not only treat existing hypertension but also take precautions in order to maintain a normal blood pressure. From there, a community development designed to help people-at-risk initiate and then sustain a healthy lifestyle is founded.
The SEMANGKA community development serves to provide knowledge and promote healthy habits which ultimately aspires conscience in community members, namely people at risk of developing hypertension. Community members include but are not limited to elderly people with a family history of hypertension, active smokers, and obese people. Through SEMANGKA, they learn more about hypertension in general and recommended diets for patients and people-at-risk from webinars and practice healthy customs together such as exercising.
This first intervention allowed community members to learn more about hypertension - its definition, symptoms, causes, and prevention from a webinar with materials provided by dr. Hj. Diniwati Mukhtar, M.Kes., AIFM. At 07.00 the committee began to gather. By 08.40 the community members were invited to enter the zoom meeting. At 08.45 the event was opened by the MC, followed by remarks from the PO for this activity, namely Maulidya Faradiba. The CDC followed suit with her own remarks.
Then dr. Diniwati gave a presentation on definition, symptoms, causes, and ways to prevent hypertension. Before giving the material, a pre-test was carried out. The activity participants were very enthusiastic in listening to the material presented and actively asked questions during the presentation. The presentation of the material was closed with a post-test and a photo with the speaker. The community members expressed gratitude and understanding over the materials explained. As such, the first intervention can be considered a success. Finally, the event was closed by the MC and the community members were reminded to come back for intervention 2.
