SEDULUR
(Stop dan Cegah Diabetes Yuk Lur!)
SCOPH CIMSA UMM
Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels (or blood sugar), leading to severe damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves. The most common type 2 diabetes is usually in adults, which occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not make enough insulin. In the past three decades, the prevalence of type 2 diabetes has risen dramatically in countries of all income levels. Type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin by itself. For people living with diabetes, access to affordable treatment, including insulin, is critical to their survival.
According to The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) (2017), the global prevalence rate of diabetes mellitus in southeast Asia in 2017 was 8.5%. It is expected to be increased to 11.1% by 2045, where Indonesia is the 6th in China, India, The United States, Brazil, and Mexico with 10.3 million diabetes mellitus (IDF, 2017).
The above data suggest that diabetes rates are high in Indonesia. Seeing these conditions, people need to step up their understanding of the disease. SEDULUR (Stop dan Cegah Diabetes Yuk Lur!) is a CIMSA UMM project to commemorate World Diabetes Day. Based on our assessment previously shared, the dominance of specific topics that appeal to respondents is diabetes at a young age, with more than 70% of the overall election results.
We have four series of activities from Poster and TikTok competition, air campaign, training, to webinars. This project started on November 22, 2020, by making several preparations, including distributing questionnaires to CIMSA UMM members and the general public, preparing and spreading about air campaign, competition, training, and preparing for the peak of the event, namely the webinar. On November 22, 2020, the air campaign concept was explained to be disseminated through the @cimsaumm Instastory and Feeds. The air campaign that we uploaded is about diabetes in general, also diabetes at a young age. On the same day, we are also distributing about TikTok and poster competition. Then on November 22, we conducted training with PHL and the doctor to prepare members for the next activities.
On November 29, 2020, is the peak of the event that is a webinar. The webinar is about "Diabetes at the young age." We choose this specific topic according to the questionnaire results that we had distributed before our campaign started.

We hope these activities can make us productive even though it is still in a state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
