SCOPE CIMSA FK UNSYIAH

CIMSA (Center for Indonesian Medical Students' Activities) Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University, is back with their annual English competition, SECTION (SCOPE English Competition). This competition is one of the major activities of the SCOPE (Standing Committee on Professional Exchange) division of CIMSA FK Unsyiah, The competition took place on 27-28 March 2021 virtually. Last year, this competition was devoted to undergraduate students and undergraduate students in Banda Aceh City and Aceh Besar District. However, this year, SCOPE CIMSA FK Unsyiah expanded the scope of participants to all of Indonesia.

This year's SECTION doesn’t only hold an English British parliamentary open debate, but also holding several new competitions, such as the English Speech Competition and the English Essay Competition. This competition aims to improve the quality of the participants by updating their insights about general knowledge, developing communication and advocacy skills of the participants, as well as tips in forming teamwork, so that they are ready to face the world of globalization in the future.

"This is the second time we (CIMSA) have held a SECTION (SCOPE English Competition), a very valuable impression was obtained from the initial preparation to the evaluation session of the activity. Hopefully, this activity will still continue and develop every year. " Said Hibban Ar-Royyan as Local Coordinator of CIMSA FK Unsyiah.

Just like the previous years, for the English debate competition, SECTION again entrusted the Debating Union of Syiah Kuala (DUSK) as adjudicators. This year's English debate competition was won by Manda Bagas Kara and Syafa Sabha Safira from the University of Lampung, followed by by Nico Fernando Tan and Clara Jesica from the IT&B Business Institute. Apart from these institutions, the English debate competition was also attended by various other institutions, Such as from SMAN 1 Takengon, Makassar State University, Riau University, and Syiah Kuala University.

Besides the debate competition, the English Speech Competition and English Essay Competition were no less interesting. The English speech competition was won by Nunki Puspita Utomo from Duta Wacana Christian University, while the English essay competition was won by Fahrezi Isnul Muhammad from Sam Ratulangi University. Apart from the two universities, these two competitions were also attended by students from several other universities in Indonesia, such as Sumatra University, Riau University, and Pelita Harapan University.
