SEBENTAR KOK
(Sehat Bersih Tanpa Rokok)
SCOPH CIMSA FK Unisba
In Indonesia, cases of death due to smoking or other tobacco-related diseases increase based on the declaration "Hari Tanpa Tembakau Sedunia 2020" presented by WHO. Every year, around 225,700 people in Indonesia die from smoking or other tobacco-related diseases. Data from WHO shows the prevalence of smoking in adults has not shown any decline over these 5 years, while the prevalence of smoking among 10-19 years old increased from 7.2% to 9.1% (in 2013-2018) —an increase of approximately 20%. The latest data from the 2019 Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) shows that 40.6% of students in Indonesia (aged 13-15 years) have used tobacco products.
In Bandung, there was an increase in adult and adolescent smokers, both male and female, with an age range of 18-25 years. The assessment showed that 7 people smoked 1-10 cigarettes per day and 4 people smoked 10-20 cigarettes per day. From the results of the assessment, it is also known that people who know the dangers of smoking-related to COVID-19 are more dominant.
Therefore, Standing Committee on Public Health CIMSA FK Unisba held an event "SEBENTAR KOK 2021" (Sehat Bersih Tanpa Rokok 2021) on Saturday, June 5th, 2021, in commemorating World No Tobacco Day. This activity aims to help people by increasing public understanding and awareness about the dangers of smoking and its prevention. "SEBENTAR KOK 2021" consists of 2 topics of the webinar. The first topic is about the dangers of smoking-related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was presented by Widhy Yudistira Nalapraya, dr., Sp.P (a pulmonologist), and the other one is about smoking cessation, which presented by Gemah Nuripah, dr., Sp.KJ., M.Kes. (a psychiatrist), as FK Unisba Lecturer.
We all hope that with this event the audience will know, understand, and be aware more about the dangers of smoking to prevent the various harmful effects of smoking in the future.
