Hello, CIMSA!
A frequently asked question from a prospective high school graduate is “what major should I pursue in the university?”, yet even if this question is answered, it will lead to another question of whether the major that they are taking is the major tailored for them.
As medical students, we reckoned how choosing the path to be in medical school is not an easy choice. Choosing a major, any major, as a matter of fact, is not an easy task either. There are fears that we as a young generation walk the wrong path and make misleading turns in our education journey. We fear that wrong choices lead us to be unhappy with our prospective career.
For that reason, SCOME x SCOPH CIMSA UPH aimed to give these young enthusiasts a glimpse of what a medical school looks like. SCOME x SCOPH wanted these youngsters to feel how it is like to be a medical student for two consecutive days with almost identical schedule as a full-time medical student. From early in the morning up to the late afternoon, the participants' days were packed with hectic, yet exciting schedules filled with outstanding experience.
On this occasion, SCOOBY DOO LIFE 8.0 raised awareness about stroke. Stroke is a condition in which there is loss of blood flow to the part of the brain. It is a medical emergency that needs immediate intervention, as failure to handle will cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death. It is intended that after the event, participants will get all the basic insights about stroke and be sure of the major that they are going to take for university.
SCOOBY DOO Life 8.0 engage the participants in two phases of activity: the pre-event and the event. The pre-event was held on 27 October 2022 with mini games that attract the participants to the events. Following the pre-event is the event. The event itself was held on the 28 October 2022 to 29 October 2022, which ranged from lectures by dr. Astra Dea Simanungkalit, Sp.S and Dr. dr. Tirta Darmawan Susanto, M.Ke, talk shows with Dr. dr. Theo Audi Yanto, Sp.PD, FINASIM and dr. Hendyono Lim, Sp.JP, FIHA, and alumni talk show with dr. Rashmeeta and Wilbert Bernadi, S.Ked. The participant also got hands-on experience on their PBL and CS Tutorials, and even went to the anatomy and histology laboratory.
