The number of cases of bullying and racism in Indonesia is still very high, including cases of bullying between students at school. This is due to the low moral education of school-age children nowadays, especially with the rapid development of social media which can be a triggering factor for the high rates of racism and bullying. In the latest research in 2020, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) recorded 119 cases of bullying against children. This number has jumped from previous years which ranged from 30-60 cases per year.
Along with the commemoration of Human Rights Day 2022, SCORP CIMSA UMSBY presents an activity, namely "SAYANG - SAY NO TO RACISM AND BULLYING". This activity began with the Human Rights Day Pre-Activity Training on December 2, 2022. Then there were 2 main series of activities, the first was an online campaign by uploading infographics on the topic of racism and bullying through CIMSA UMSBY Instagram social media and all CIMSA UMSBY SCORP members. This campaign was uploaded on December 10, 2022, to coincide with Human Rights Day and received total impressions of more than 250 likes. This campaign aims to disseminate matters related to racism and bullying to the Instagram user community.
Furthermore, the second activity, namely capacity building with SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surabaya students, was successfully carried out on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, after the previous schedule had been postponed for almost 2 months due to several reasons. This capacity building was attended by 61 grade 8 students of SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surabaya. This activity was carried out by delivering material about racism and bullying which often occurs in society and students are no exception.
The material was delivered by a member of the UMSBY CIMSA SCORP named Nanda Faradiza, the material presented was material that had been obtained during pre-activity training.
For the implementation of this material, pre-tests and post-tests were also included for all participants, the average post-test result was 78.5 which exceeded the initial target of 75. This activity is expected to add to the knowledge of participants and all parties involved. racism and bullying, starting from their understanding, examples, the resulting impacts, and what to do to avoid them. Indirectly it can also help the school to voice racism and bullying that still occurs among students so that with good knowledge from students it will reduce the number of racism and bullying that occurs.
