Excessive work is a common problem in the workplace and education world. If it’s not managed well, it could lead to toxic productivity, causing disturbed inner peace and increased stress levels. Therefore, SCOPH and SCORP CIMSA UWKS initiated SALMON (Start to Manage Your Inner Peace by Knowing Your Limitation). This activity aims to raise awareness of how knowing our limitations is one of the ways to manage our mental health. SALMON commemorates World Mental Health Day by picking up the 2024 theme “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace and Adolescent”.

SALMON was established with a series of fun events. Starting with pre-activity, SALMON interviewed first-year students of UWKS about their first few weeks of experience in pre-medical education. This continued to a 2-part training session on September 26 and 28, 2024, with topics on mental health and its perspective from the human rights approach.

The main event on October 5, 2024, was arranged into a talk show mixed with group discussion presented by a duet of both fields: psychologist Danang Setyo Budi Baskoro, M.Psi, Psikolog as representative of Brilian Psikologi, and psychiatrist dr. Harsono Wiradinata, Sp.KJ. Gathered at Bangsal Poncowaliko UWKS, the talkshow session went smoothly, with the audience being active during the session. After the talk show, the audience was grouped into small groups to uncover the cases that were given. They presented it to other audiences and gave feedback from respective guests. On October 6, 2024, the main event was workshop day. The idea behind the workshop day was to act as a day off with friends to relieve stress through creative activity. Activities in the workshop involved a bearbrick keychain painting class and an origami class.

The last step of SALMON was a series of post-activity between October 9-12, 2024. The air campaign was uploaded on social media, followed by a ground campaign in Jl. Tunjungan. SALMON set up the ground campaign as a social experiment targeting the general public with the topic “SALMON – How’s Your Day?” to aim for a sharing session for people who might have a rough day or happy day.

With all episodes of SALMON being done, CIMSA UWKS would like to thank all participants for joining the journey to better understand mental health. “Kesehatan mental bukanlah tujuan, tetapi proses” are words we all need hold on dear tight.
