SCORP CIMSA FK UNS

ROAR (Rights to Health for Refugees) is one of the activities hosted by SCORP CIMSA FK UNS to raise awareness to the public and medical students about rights to health that belong to refugees. This event was held to celebrate International Day of Peace 2021. Based on our pre-assessment, 50,9% of 57 our respondents give a score of 3 out of 5 for their knowledge of the condition of refugee’s health in Indonesia, followed by a score of 1 out of 5 which was given by 19.3% of our respondents.

So, our goal of this activity is to acknowledge a minimum of 100 public and medical students about refugees' situation during the pandemic throughout the webinar and air campaign as measured by increases in the average scores of the pretest to the posttest with a minimum posttest score of 60. ROAR lasts for 4 days with the peak of the event is a webinar on September 19, 2021. With the topic “Public Health access and community management on refugees during a pandemic,''  we invented Mr. Rizkan, senior protection assistant from UNHCR, and Ms. Theresa, RDI UREF’s Project coordinator, as our speakers to explain matters concerning refugees' health in Indonesia during the pandemic.

With their experiences dealing with refugees in Indonesia, the participants became more aware of the conditions faced by the refugees and how the government handled them. Participants also know more about the rights that refugees have. Before we started the webinar, we asked our participants to fill out a pretest about this topic. With over 100 participants, the average score of participants is 68.81. The result of the post-test managed to increase up to 11,61 points from 68,81 to 80,42.  68.3% of the participants gave a score of 5 out of 5  for the Webinar ROAR, followed by 27.5% of participants who gave a score of 4 out of 5. To raise these issues more broadly, we made an infographic about legal protection for refugees in Indonesia. Participants can also join our campaign by posting twibbon on their social media. It is safe to say that this year, ROAR 2021 was running successfully. We succeeded in inviting over 100 participants from all over the country and also increasing the general knowledge and understanding of refugees' health during the pandemic.  We hope that this event will be held once again and provide many benefits for society.
