REVERED

(Discrimination You’ve Never Heard)

SCORP CIMSA FK YARSI

Indonesia's lack of respect for ableism is the backdrop for the development of the event. Ableism is discrimination against those who have disabilities. Ableism can be an assumption, an attitude, and practice that promote unequal treatment of people with different physical and mental conditions. According to 2016's UU No.8, people with disabilities are physically, intellectually, mentally, and sensory-backed. People who have long interacted with the environment may face obstacles and difficulty participating fully and effectively with other citizens on equal rights. It is easy for Indonesians to allow their stigma to inflate their outlook on fellow humans. Over time, our attitude suggests that people with normal conditions are considered as superior and potential individuals than those with disabilities.

Based on this background, SCORP CIMSA FK YARSI took the initiative to hold a webinar. We titled it REVERED: Discrimination You've Never Heard. Besides celebrating Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10, this event also aims to increase public knowledge, awareness, and concern about ableism and react to it.

Webinars REVERED is held on December 20, 2020, through a Zoom meeting platform with two speakers, Yuni Widyanti, amd. Keb, Founder Bumi Disabilitas, and Vino Pratama, head of Disabilitas Tanpa Batas Sumatera Barat.

Yuni Widyanti presents today's Indonesian condition in promoting immobility and ways to prevent ableism from forming.

At the same time, Vino Pratama Outlines the speaker's responses about ableism and sharing about the speaker's experiences with the subject.

There is a 19,3% increase in the pre-test and post-test webinar participants. This suggests that public knowledge of ableism is increasing. Sixty-four participants attended this webinar. By creating this project, we hope it will enhance the experience, consciousness, and community consciousness of ableism and reduce society's stigma toward people with disabilities.
