SCORE CIMSA UGM
According to SCImago, the number of researchers in Indonesia in two and a half decades is relatively low, with only 158,733 research publications (1996-2019) and ranked 47 worldwide. Research innovations in Indonesia are still lacking, reports from those given by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization place Indonesia in 85th position with a score of 29.8, which is below the Philippines (31.6), Brunei (32.8), and Vietnam (37.9). Even though research is significant in the development of life and civilization, the growth of Indonesia's research innovations is still insufficient.
The Indonesian government itself has set through a regulation written in the Government Law (PP) RI no. 14 of 2015 concerning the Rencana Induk Pembangunan Industri Nasional (RIPIN) 2015-2035 states that one of the targets and achievements for Industrial development is to increase the development of innovation and utilization of technology, which is impossible to achieve without research. Through research, new knowledge emerges, new technology continues to develop. The various obstacles and problems faced by humanity are very the answer may be found through research. In the National Research Master Plan In 2017-2045, the government has also established Health and Medicine research as one of the national research focuses. From this, it can be concluded how much the importance of medical student knowledge in playing a role improve the quality and quantity of research in Indonesia.
SCORE CIMSA UGM together with respectable researcher, dr. Nur Arfian, also in association with Cochrane Indonesia, goes hand-in-hand in educating our peers by creating an online training session named RESTRAIN, an abbreviation for Research Training for Newbies, which is targeted at new members of SCORE UGM 2020. The first session is led by dr. Nur Arfian with the topic of basic research. It gives SCORE newcomers an easy-to-learn environment to learn more about research, starting from the basics with an interactive and exciting presentation.
Cochrane Indonesia guides the second session with the topic of Systematic Review. It gives the participants a fair understanding of creating a systematic review of research through Cochrane's management system. The online learning session is followed by a focused group discussion where the participant is divided into several groups, each of the groups creates their mini-research based on the materials given before on the online session and then present the results to the speakers for reviews to further increase the understanding the basics of research. We hope that the online session further increases people's knowledge and experience regarding newcomers' research to create a brighter future for Indonesian scientists.
