REMEDY 2nd INTERVENTION
SCOPH CIMSA FK UNPAD
Similar yet different from the previous years, in the light of the upcoming World's Diabetes Day, SCOPH CIMSA FK Unpad continued their annual community development called REMEDY. REMEDY is a community development program focusing on education and self-awareness for people in Desa Cipacing, Jatinangor, about preventing diabetes and living a healthy lifestyle by first handing the knowledge to the cadres RW 07 and RW 03. The massive difference in this year's REMEDY is due to the escalation of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing all activities to be held on the virtual platform.
This year's REMEDY is divided into three interventions. The intervention explained is the second intervention. In this intervention, we provided education about diabetes through three posters. We also invited dr. Elisa from Sobat Diabet to our QnA (question and answer) session.
The first poster is about "All About Diabetes." In this poster, we educate the cadres about the classic symptoms and other symptoms of diabetes, how to diagnose diabetes, and the types of diabetes. After giving the first digital poster to the cadres, we gave them some time to read and learn through it, then give them a chance to ask questions regarding the poster presented to dr. Elisa through QnA session. We were a little bit surprised to see the cadres' enthusiasm to learn and ask questions to the doctor.
After dr. Elisa finished answering all the cadres' questions regarding the first poster, and we began to give the second and the third poster. The second poster was about "Healthy Nutrition," whereas the third poster was about "Gestational Diabetes." After giving the last two posters to the cadres, just like the previous session, we gave them some time to learn about the posters and ask questions to dr. Elisa regarding the posters presented. The cadres actively asked regarding the posters provided. We were amazed by the atmosphere the cadres gave from their spirit and enthusiasm to learn more about diabetes.
After the QnA session is over, this intervention came to an end. Just like the opening, we closed this intervention with a prayer.
The COVID-19 pandemic is not an obstacle for us to have a good impact on others. We can still share and bond with each other. We hope that we can always connect and share benefits from this activity until the end of our training!
