RACER
(Refugee Against Coronavirus)
SCORP CIMSA UI
In December 2019, there are 13,657 refugees in Indonesia, of which a quarter consists of children. These refugees tend to face a problem on fulfilling their basic needs. One of Indonesian human rights activists stated that the government has not yet fulfilled refugees’ basic needs. UNHCR has helped refugees by donating hygienic needs, clean water, food, and others. But now, we are facing a situation called COVID-19 pandemic. The social distancing protocol of COVID-19 results in some delays of refugees’ help. Additionally, public can help refugees by donating money, food, clothes, etc but the public awareness of refugees is still low. Therefore, we create this event with some objectives shown below.
We aim to raise public awareness, including medical student, about health and social condition of refugees, especially in COVID-19 pandemic, so that we can help them more. We also aim to educate public about the existence of external organizations like Non-Governmental Organization and United Nation Agencies. The last objective is to inspire public to help refugees with the help of external organizations.
