PREDEPARTURE TRAINING
SCOPE CIMSA UI
Predeparture training is a regular event held by SCOPE CIMSA UI to prepare outgoings before they go on exchange. Training topics range from administrative and bureaucratic preparations outgoings need to prepare such as documents, legal papers, visas, and insurances, to a more laid-back discussion session with past outgoing ranging from the ups and downs of being in exchange, the experience, cultural shocks, and many more.
Commonly held a few months prior to their exchange, Predeparture Training aims to prepare outgoings by informing them about the necessary items to do before, during, and after their exchange. Predeparture Training also answers a few frequently asked questions regarding common confusions and misconceptions outgoings have about their exchange. Other than that, Predeparture Training also invites past outgoing to have them share their experiences during exchange to the current outgoings. Common topic revolves around general pros and cons, cultural shock, adapting in a foreign country, as well as tips and tricks and do’s and don’t’s.
SCOPE CIMSA UI’s Predeparture Training was held on Friday, October 23rd, 2020. The training that has always been held offline in nearby points of interest around Universitas Indonesia, unfortunately has to be held online through live video call due to the current restrictions regarding the pandemic. The training was divided into two sessions.
The first session, with SCOPE CIMSA UI’s Local Exchange Officer for Outgoing as its speaker, talks about the administrative and bureaucratic process of exchange which concerns documents and other legal papers, an overview of how to manage and use the IFMSA account given to outgoings, as well as the tasks and reports outgoings have to make after they return to their home country.
The second session was a sharing session with past outgoing. For this Predeparture Training, the speaker was dr. Magna Fitriani who had went on exchange to Turkey through SCOPE.
This Predeparture Training went well with many questions given by the enthusiastic participants to both speakers. Hopefully, as per its objective, Predeparture Training can give outgoings a clear understanding of what they have to do before, during, and after their exchange as well as a firm idea of how the exchange experience would be like.
