PRECIOUS
(Prepare for Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation with Special Need Children)
Most Indonesian people live in the world's most disaster-prone areas, located in the world's most seismically active zones, where there are 127 active volcanoes and 317 districts at risk of earthquakes.
For West Sumatera, BPBD released data on disaster events until December 26, 2019. It was recorded that 746 earthquakes occurred in West Sumatra and the number of aftershocks was 201 times. This does not rule out the possibility of an earthquake in the city of Padang and its surroundings.
Based on this problem, SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand held a PRECIOUS (Ready for Earthquake and Tsunami Mitigation with Children with Special Needs) and commemorated the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) on October 13. PRECIOUS raised the theme “Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation, especially Earthquake and Tsunami”
PRECIOUS there are two series of activities. The first activity was pre-activity which was on October 8, 2022. The training was divided into three topics, the first training was delivered by the CIMSA Humanitarian Response Team (CHRT) on “Disaster Risk Reduction”. The second training was delivered by the Tsunami Alert Community (KOGAMI) on “Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation” and the third training was delivered by the Hippocratic Emergency Team (HET) BEM KM FK Unand. This training is intended for members of SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand. Hoped this training can increase members' knowledge of disaster preparedness and mitigation.
The next activity as the culmination and closing of IDDRR celebration was a workshop which was held directly at Wacana Asih Special School on October 15, 2022. Workshop was an earthquake and tsunami disaster mitigation demonstration activity by members to children and teachers of Wacana Asih Special School. The activity began with introductions between members to children and teachers, watching earthquake evacuation videos, quizzes and singing with Earthquake Evacuation song.
Followed the provision of material by resource persons representing the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) with the title "Disaster Mitigation". After giving the material, children's guided to the classroom, then the explanation and demonstration of evacuation was carried by members. Then an earthquake and tsunami evacuation simulation was carried for the whole class to measure knowledge and abilities.
Through this PRECIOUS activity, it is hoped that members of CIMSA-BEM SCORP KM FK Unand, children and teachers of SLB Wacana Asih can understand and care about disaster mitigation, especially earthquakes and tsunamis.
