PREBIOTHICS

(SCOPExSCORE Bioethics Day)

SCOPE&SCORE CIMSA BEM-KM FK UNAND

Until now, ethical issues are an important matter in the world of medicine so that the World Medical Association (WMA) has established a policy related to ethics itself. But, there are still many medical students from developing countries, such as Indonesia, who are less concerned about ethical issues. This can occur due to the lack of exposure to information on ethics and its application to medical students.

The 1964 Declaration of Helsinki is the starting point where bioethics is very important to uphold. However, the correct application of bioethics is very minimal in countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.

PREBIOTHICS is one of the projects in the form of events and air campaigns raised by SCOPE X SCORE CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand with the theme "bioethics" which aims to increase knowledge, understanding, and concern of health and law students in the city of Padang regarding the principles and roles of bioethics in the fields of clinical practice, research, and law. This activity is carried out in the form of webinars through the zoom meeting application, and also an air campaign on “bioethic day” through CIMSA Unand's social media and external partners.

This activity supports one of CIMSA's focuses on 4th SDGs: "Ensuring inclusive and equitable education and encouraging lifelong learning opportunities for all people". As well as supporting the CIMSA Program: "Human Resources for health", as well as the 2019 CIMSA Indonesia Policy Statement on "bioethics".

PREBIOTHICS consists of 2 webinars, the first webinar was held on 7 November 2020. This webinar raised the theme, “The Importance of Bioethics in Clinical Practice, Research, and Law”, presented by a member of the PB IDI Indonesian Medical Ethics Council (MKEK), dr. Bahtiar Husain Sp.p, MH. Kes, and a law lecturer of Criminal Law and Health Law, Dr. Siska Elvandari, SH., MH., and moderated by dr. Fitri Sakinah as Alumna CIMSA Unand 2013.

On November 14, 2020, SCOPE & SCORE CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand has conducted a second webinar, which is about “Reinforcing the Knowledge of Bioethics to Improve Equity and Justice”, presented by Mr. Nur Azid Mahardinata, MD, as the Co-Principal Investigator of the UNESCO Chair Bioethics, and moderated by dr. Rismita Saldeni as Alumna CIMSA Unand 2013.

We hope that the webinar that we conduct can provide many benefits to the participants and members of the SCOPE & SCORE CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand.
