PRE-DEPARTURE TRAINING 1
SCOPE CIMSA UPH
The SCOPE Exchange program serves as a platform for the medical students to experience quality educational and cultural interchange. Hence, to obtain the full benefit through this exchange, a thorough preparation such as the Pre-Departure Training should be performed. Moreover, this training also aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of the outgoing students about SCOPE Exchange Program in order to strive, thrive and enjoy the full experience during the exchange.
On Saturday, 21st November 2020, SCOPE CIMSA UPH held its first Pre-Departure Training. The training was brought by the Local Exchange Officer for Outgoing (LEO-Out) of CIMSA UPH, Jeskry Thiono, and was attended by UPH medical students who were selected to join the professional exchange program 2021-2022. In general, the training was divided into two major presentation; introduction about IFMSA & SCOPE CIMSA and pre-departure administration procedure of SCOPE Exchange Program.
This 2-hour training started at 16.00 p.m. with an introduction from the LEO-out, afterwards, the participants took a pre-test to measure their knowledge regarding the SCOPE Exchange Program before the training. Subsequently, the training started with a topic which discussed information about IFMSA & SCOPE CIMSA as the first material, followed by the second material which was about the documents and preparation required before the exchange.
During the session, outgoings had a live demonstration which displayed the IFMSA portal as the center of information to find out concerning participating countries, their specific terms and conditions, NMO’s, together with the exchange document’s submission portals. Next, participants had a QnA session with the LEO-Out and a special guest, the National Exchange Officer for Outgoing of CIMSA, Clauvinna Adhityana Lie Fisca.
The participants seem to be very exuberant about their exchange as they asked various of questions regarding the pre-departure preparation. However, participants were also concerned about their exchange due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the NEO-Out elucidated the conditions and future possibilities whilst waiting for further notice from the IFMSA.
Through this training, we hope that the SCOPE Exchange Program participants have had a clear comprehension about the SCOPE Exchange Program starting from IFMSA & CIMSA as the organizing body as well as the administration procedure and preparation before exchange, the exchange process itself, and the post-exchange tasks.
