PRE-DEPARTURE & EXCHANGE TRAINING
SCOPE&SCORE MSCIA UB
Pre-Departure and Exchange Training (PDET) is a joint training between SCOPE and SCORE MSCIA UB for Outgoings and partially for members. The year 2020 has affected the activities of both standing committees. With the pandemic, the motivation and interest in exchange activities of medical students are lacking. Therefore, exchange programs have to be heavily promoted outside the exchange fair, especially through trainings, where the students can be more intimate in asking questions about the programs.
PDET 2020 began with a session with Florian Bannier, the SCOPE Regional Assistant for Europe, who is also an IFMSA Exchange Trainer. This was attended by all of MSCIA UB’s Outgoings, both from SCOPE and SCORE, and also their members. He explained the basic knowledge and background of each exchange programs. He further continued sharing the various cultural and academical differences in Europe, since most of our Outgoings are going to go to Europe for their exchange. He also shared the do’s and don’ts of living in Europe during an exchange. To measure the attendants’ knowledge about the lecture given, we provided both pre-test before the session and post-test after the presentation ended. We were very grateful that Florian could come to our local training and share his knowledge as an IFMSA Exchange Trainer with our Outgoings and members.
After the first session, the Zoom meeting was continued with two individual sessions for only the Outgoings, while the members could leave the meeting. The sessions were for both SCOPE and SCORE Outgoings, where Fauzan and Intan, the LEO and LORE, explain the Outgoings about the usage of the IFMSA Database and the academic quality of the exchange programs, respectively. It was quite a lot of information for the Outgoings, so they asked a lot of questions regarding the usage of the IFMSA Database. To test their knowledge, we also held a pre-test and post-test. We asked the Outgoings to complete their card of documents as soon as possible, so they can send their application forms to their respective NMOs.
Hopefully PDET could provide the needed information for our Outgoings and motivate out members to become Outgoings in the near future.
