(Objective Clinical Examination Training)

SCOME CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND

In the final semester of each year, the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, held an exam called OSCE (Objective Clinical Examination Training). This examination is a parameter to assess the ability of students' skills in one semester.

SCOME CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand provides first-year students to learn about the OSCE called ORCHESTRA (Objective Structured Clinical Examination Training). We create OSCE training and simulations so that the first-year students can understand what they should and should not be doing in OSCE. The registration was opened for first-year students and promoted through the Zoom Cloud Meetings. As a result of the promotion, ORCHESTRA had more than 150 registered, more than half of all first-year students. SCOME CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand also offers students modules on all clinical skills in the first year. This module contains a summary of each clinical skill, a checklist, and tips.

On the first day  (Saturday, December 12, 2020), we conducted training with Ingenio Indonesia through Zoom Cloud Meetings. In this training, Ingenio Indonesia taught each first-semester lab skills material, held a question and answer session, gave tips and tricks during OSCE, and shared experiences with ORCHESTRA participants. On the sidelines of the lesson, several quizzes and ice-breaking were also held. We discuss modules together, learn each skill with tools and materials, sharing tips and tricks during OSCE, what to do in OSCE, and many other things. At the end of the OSCE training, all participants performed again the material given together.

On the second day (Saturday, December 19, 2020), we held the OSCE simulations through Zoom Cloud Meetings. The participants were very enthusiastic and could not wait to start the simulation. Slightly different from OSCE, this simulation has five stages, with 1 stage as a break stage. Each student has 6 minutes to solve a case from a given scenario in every stage. 165 students of the Medical Education Department registered to participate in the simulation. However, only 53 participants could attend the simulation. Therefore, we will facilitate, provide an overview, and increase knowledge to the 112 participants who cannot attend the simulation by filling out scenario cases via Google Form with the same questions during the simulation before. We are working with the alumni of CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand as the assessor for the simulation and Ingenio Indonesia as the speaker for the training.
