Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is an effective examination method for assessing the clinical skills of medical students. OSCE has several advantages, namely:
- Objective : The OSCE assessment is not influenced by the examiner's subjectivity
- Structured : OSCE uses a wide variety of clinical scenarios that can assess a range of students' clinical skills
- Realistic : OSCE resembles conditions in the classroom, so as to prepare students for real clinical situations.
Faculty of Medicine of Andalas University initiated the OSCE simulation which has been carried out since 2007. SCOME CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand has one of the activities, namely ORCHESTRA which has been initiated since 2017. ORCHESTRA is an OSCE simulation attended by first semester students with the aim of providing an overview of the first OSCE that students will undergo. With the drawing of OSCE that will be carried out through ORCHESTRA, first semester students can prepare OSCE more carefully and prepare them to face OSCE exams and be able to manage stress properly.
On December 10 2023 the first series of ORCHESTRA began, a Online ORCHESTRA training via zoom meeting with our external partners: INGENIO. Online training is used to present the material and the implementation of OSCE in general, universal precaution and basic laboratories.
On December 15 2023 the second series of ORCHESTRA began, ORCHESTRA offline training in E2 FK UNAND building. Material related to urinalysis and feses was presented by FK UNAND lecturer, Dra. Dian Pertiwi, MS and the technical implementation of OSCE was given by dr. Rahma Tsania Zhuhra, M.Pd.Ked
On December 16 2023 the third series of ORCHESTRA began, ORCHESTRA simulation attended by 108 ORCHESTRA participants. This simulation consists of two sessions, there are the morning session (07.30-12.00 WIB) and the afternoon session (12.30-17.00 WIB). There are 7 stations consisting of 6 work stations and one rest station. Each station lasts for 6 minutes. ORCHESTRA examiners come from alumni and seniors of CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand, volunteers from the class of 2022 and 2021 and members of SCOME batch 2022 and 2021.
