Hello, CIMSA!
Malnutrition is a public health problem in many countries, especially developing countries, including Indonesia. Malnutrition is a lack of nutrients or food intake needed by the body that can affect human growth and development, especially in toddlers. A cycle called the vicious cycle by Scrimshaw explains that malnutrition increases susceptibility to infectious diseases, and infectious diseases can lead to malnutrition due to anorexia, malabsorption, and increased need.
Many people still do not understand and learn the components of nutrients and their importance for the health of the body. Each element of nutrients has its role in the continuity of optimal body functions. To meet these needs, we should know the types and various food sources of nutrients needed so that we can consume food appropriately.
Nutritional problems in Indonesia are still determinants of maternal and child mortality. The increase in nutritional needs used to fulfill maternal and fetal nutrition while in the mother's belly makes pregnant women one of the groups prone to malnutrition. Chronic Energy Deficiency (SEZ) in mothers during pregnancy occurs as a result of insufficient intake of macronutrients and micronutrients such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and other minerals needed during pregnancy can be at risk of causing BBLR and premature; babies born with iron deficiency, decreased child intelligence and risk of tetanus. Food Intake in this study was measured by a 2 x 24-hour recall conducted for two days obtained from energy (calories), macronutrients and some micronutrients still <80% of AKG. Only vitamin B9 and iron intake is >80% compared to AKG (Recommended Nutritional Adequacy Rate for Indonesians, 2019)
Based on this, SCOPH CIMSA FK YARSI held an event to commemorate National Nutrition Day which is commemorated every January 25 and will discuss micronutrients and the importance of micronutrient intake for pregnant women during pregnancy. This topic was chosen to increase public understanding and awareness of the importance of nutritional intake during pregnancy. This event was held with a pre-activity aimed at CIMSA FK YARSI members and a main activity in the form of a webinar for the general public and pregnant women. External partners that support this event are Ruang Gizi Indonesia and Gizi Nusantara. To realize this, SCOPH CIMSA FK YARSI held "NUTRIENT: Find Out the Importance of Micronutrients" on February 11, 2023.
