CIMSA UNRI successfully held METHANOL on Saturday, 9th October 2021 from 10:00 am – 01.00 pm. This activity was held online via Zoom Meeting due to the COVID – 19 situation that occurred around the world and there is still a prohibition to organize large groups of people to break the chain of spreading the virus.
Anxiety and depression are two common mental health problems. Nevertheless, most people do not know what the difference between them. In fact, getting an accurate diagnosis about the mental condition is very important for appropriate treatment.
According to WHO, depression is one of the leading causes of disability. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds. People with severe mental health conditions die prematurely – as much as two decades early – due to preventable physical conditions. These data show that mental health problems must be resolved immediately.
So, SCOPH CIMSA UNRI hold METHANOL (Mental Health on Discussed for Anxiety and Depression Among Youth Life). METHANOL has goals to explaining the things participants need to know, especially teenager, about knowledge and awareness how important of mental health. Therefore, it can minimize the number of mental health problems.
Before METHANOL activities started, there was a training first for all of the committees. This training was conducted on Saturday, 18th September 2021 at 10.00 pm - 11.45 pm. This training activity was attended by the entire committees (OC) and the material was delivered by one of the Trainers from CIMSA FK UNRI, namely Raihanah Zahroh, from SCOPH. The material presented is Definition, Symptoms, Cause and Effect, and Preventive of Anxiety and Depression.
This activity consists of two main parts. The first part was holding a campaign. In order to campaign to public about mental health, have been made a twibbon and quiz on instagram @cimsaunri about mental health. The second part was holding a webinar.
This webinar consists of two sessions. The first session was sharing by M. Mahrus Afif, S. Psi, from Satu Persen Indonesia Life School. The topic is about Mental Health for Teenager. The information provided consists of mental health issues, causes and symptoms of depression, and how to solve it.
The second session was sharing by dr. Levina Mutia, Alumni of CIMSA FK UNRI 2011. The topic is about how to deal with anxiety and depression. In the final session, there was a workshop “How to being mindfullnes with relaxation” that involves participant’s role.
