(Medical Introduction)

Stress in new students, in general, can be caused by difficulties in making adjustments in the academic and social fields in the new environment. In academic matters related to study planning, how to study, understanding the rules, and what is needed during lectures. Meanwhile, non-academic problems related to difficulties in self-development, finding relationships (friends), and other personal problems. Based on the data from the 2019 assessment of Malikussaleh University of medical faculty’s new students, it shows that 66% (40 of the 60 new students) of respondents have low knowledge of books, medical devices, and learning system in medical school.
On October 3rd, 2020, SCOME CIMSA Unimal held an introduction to books, medical devices, and learning systems at the Faculty of Medicine. This activity is named MENTION (Medical Education) which is aimed to the new students of the Malikussaleh University Medical Faculty. As a yearly event, MENTION 2020 more challenging because of the pandemic, so everything was held via online including spreading the information via Nnstagram, Line and 2020 batch’s Whatsapp group.
The MENTION event invited several presenters, Muhammad Fazrian Danu (2017) and Afifah Nur Dalimunthe (2018) as presenters of medical books, Muthmainnah (2018) and Aqsha Madina (2018) as presenters of medical devices. As the presenters well known have more insight into books, medical devices, known to be superior in the academic field and have a good public speaking skill so that the material presented by the speaker can be well received and easily understood by the participants
In addition, this MENTION event is also intended to all students so that students between generations get to know each other to create a close friendship between students of the Unimal Faculty of Medicine where in one of the sessions at the MENTION event, SCOME CIMSA Unimal held a learning sharing session filled with previous batches and also SCOME CIMSA Unimal also invited alumni or batches who were undergoing co-ass stage to share their learning experiences at the medical school with new students.
During the pre-MENTION activity, there were around 77 students who registered, but due to the internet connection constraints, only about 53 new students attended. The MENTION event was also attended by CIMSA Unimal Officials. New students were very enthusiastic during the material and QnA session. SCOME CIMSA Unimal hopes that with this MENTION activity, new students can be more enthusiastic about medical lecture because they have prepared a lecture carefully.
