Based on the data obtained from students in 2018 and 2019 on the benefits of book introduction to students, it was found that the majority agreed that new students need to know the type of medical books to support learning while they were in Medicine Faculty. Even based on the data obtained from freshmen Medicine Faculty UKDW, they are very excited if there is an event to introduce medical books and interest in participating.
Medical Book Fair, one of SCOME CIMSA UKDW's projects with the focus area on Human Resources for Health in facilitating learning, is an introduction event of medical books to new students of the Faculty of Medicine Christian Duta Wacana University in 2020. The purpose of this event is to provide information about the learning environment in medical school so that the new students can adapt. In this activity, the new students are also given facilities in the purchase of medical books through external partners who have established cooperation with CIMSA UKDW.
Speaker explain about medical books
Medical Book Fair 2020 was held online through Zoom meeting platform on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10.00-12.00 WIB. After gathered together in a main room to fill out a pre-test, participants are divided into 3 rooms using the breakout room in 25 minutes for each speakers. There are 3 speakers who will explain about the type of medical book, the difference of each book, and the excellence of the book. Speaker 1 will explain the anatomy and physiology books. Speaker 2 will explain the type of histology and pathology books. Speaker 3 will explain types of medical books such as pharmacology, biochemistry, and medical dictionaries. Next, the participants were reunited at the main room to fill the post-test and there was an explanation from FnMC about the book purchasing process.
The new students of FK UKDW 2020 are very enthusiast in participating the medical book fair activities. This is seen from the percentage of attendance that reaches 100% where 98 new students of FK UKDW attend. There was an increase in post-test results, show that the freshmen Faculty of Medicine UKDW is more aware and understand about the type of medical book.
The event was finished on time and all went well. The hope for CIMSA UKDW is that hopefully in the future CIMSA UKDW continues to carry out projects that can benefit those around it.
