MARVEL 2nd INTERVENTION
(Mental Illness Prevention in School)
SCOPH CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND
In this second year of our Community Development activity called MARVEL, we bring up the theme of COVID-19 & Anxiety. COVID-19 Pandemic not only causes deaths from all corners of the world, but also has an impact on psychological disorders from the world community. When the Corona Virus spreads rapidly throughout the world, it also causes high levels of fear and worry in certain groups in particular, the elderly, people with comorbidities, and health workers. There are three psychological problems in the COVID-19 pandemic era, namely anxiety, depression and psychological trauma. From 2364 respondents, 69% of them have psychological problems and 31% do not show any symptoms of psychological problems. In this study, it was found that women have a fairly high prevalence compared to men in terms of psychological problems in the COVID-19 era, which is around 72% (PDSKJI, 2020). Advances in medical science and technology made doctors in general and Mental Medicine Specialists in particular able to provide professional health services.
Excessive anxiety arises from fear of catching the virus and dying, feeling helpless to protect loved ones and fear of losing loved ones due to the virus spreading, fear of being separated from loved ones due to quarantine, fear of losing their livelihood, cannot work during isolation, and be expelled from work, fearing being ostracized by society / quarantined because of the stigma against people infected by the corona virus (such as racism towards people who are from or are considered to be from affected places).
