MARVEL 1st Intervention
SCOPH CIMSA-BEM KM FK
Unand On Saturday, October 1, 2022, SCOPH CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand held the first intervention for community development activities, MARVEL, which was filled with presentations from Bintang Anugerah Hade and Fawwaz M Fijarati as members of SCOPH CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand, presentation focuses on eating disorders, followed by an informative discussion session, and closed with a game with the cadres.
MARVEL, which stands for Mental Illness Prevention in School, is a community development program that has been running for four years. The main objective of this program is to make MARVEL a sustainable project at SMAN 1 Padang. In its fourth year, MARVEL is recruiting cadres again after the old cadres graduated from SMAN 1 Padang. This first intervention is the second step taken by MARVEL 2022 to achieve its ultimate goal.
This presentation was addressed to five cadres who are members of the counseling club, Let's Talk. In the presentation, Bintang explained eating disorders in general, the causes, and factors that can lead to eating disorders and the types of eating disorders in general. Fawwaz continued the presentation by explaining the types of eating disorders in detail, such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. The most common type of eating disorder is Anorexia Nervosa, which is characterized by excessive self-starvation and weight loss. The sufferer is usually very afraid of gaining weight and is very obsessed with weight and body shape. Followed by Bulimia Nervosa, as the second most common type of eating disorder, characterized by a cycle of overeating followed by compensatory behavior, such as vomiting food, excessive exercise, or taking diuretic pills.
The presentation was influenced by the pre-intervention resource person, Mrs. Puti Dewi Sartika, M.Psi. We used the knowledge we got from Sister Puti and shared it with the cadres by providing some relevant examples. Our goal is to make the material we present easy to understand.
After an extensive presentation, our cadres asked several questions regarding the material that had been presented. After the intervention, we continued the activity with a game session. We also held an appreciation session for the cadres and a group photo session. Overall, the interventions carried out were successful and we as members hope that this intervention can be useful for our cadres to share with others in the next intervention activities.
