Nowadays, maternal mortality remains one of the biggest public health problems in this world. According to WHO, every day approximately 830 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Women die as a result of complications during and following pregnancy and childbirth. The major complications that account for nearly 75% of all maternal deaths are severe bleeding (mostly bleeding after childbirth), infections (usually after childbirth), high blood pressure during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia), complications from delivery, and unsafe abortion.

Based on SUPAS 2015, in Indonesia, there were 305 cases of maternal deaths in 2015. These cases are still too many compared to the target in the Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMN) 2020-2024, which is 232 cases of maternal deaths in 2024.

According to Health Profile of Padang 2018, there has been an increase in maternal deaths in 2018 to 17 cases, compared to 2017 only 16 cases. On Ambacang Health Center, which was the target of MANDEH 2.0, an increase in maternal mortality cases to 1 case compared to 2017 where there were no maternal deaths. Therefore, SCORA CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND wants to help reduce the maternal mortality rate through MANDEH 2.0.

MANDEH 2.0 (SCORA CIMSA UNAND in Anticipating Maternal Deaths) is a community development held by SCORA CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND at RT 04 RW 07 Kelurahan Pasar Ambacang, Kecamatan Kuranji, Padang. It has been held since 2018 and this year was held again on August-September 2019.

MANDEH 2.0 has a goal of increasing awareness and knowledge of productive age women in RT 04 RW 07 Pasar Ambacang, measured by increasing pre-test to post-test scores to a minimum average of 75 about antenatal care, pregnancy contraception, detection of pregnancy, maternal nutrition status, husband support during pregnancy, parity and the importance of the Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (KIA) handbook in an effort to help reduce maternal mortality through counseling and empowering cadres, assisting pregnancy in community areas during the 2019-2020 period, and forming a maternal alert team in community areas by SCORA CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND in August-September 2019.

This community development began with 1st pre-intervention. Re-assessment of knowledge and awareness of reproductive women in the target area about maternal health on August 30th, 2019. This re-assessment was carried out to collect primary data about the topic of MANDEH 2.0. Previously, there was a briefing about the contents of the questionnaire by LORA CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND.
