SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND
COVID-19 is currently epidemic throughout the world, global attention is focused on preventing further transmission and treatment of the infected. However, natural disasters can still happen at any time. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padang City noted that throughout 2019 the area was hit by 777 natural disasters. Data for 2020 have occurred 79 times natural disasters that have occurred in West Sumatra, where the types of disasters vary from whirlpools, floods, landslides to forest fires.
Thus, SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand held an activity called MANAPI (Menghadapi Bencana di Masa Pandemi). MANAPI is an activity in a form of campaign in celebrating the international day of disaster risk reduction on 13th October 2020. By this activity, we want to raise awareness about the importance of disaster mnagement in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic.
This activity has a goal to increase knowledge of 50 SCORP members regarding natural disaster during the COVID-19 pandemic through webinar and increased the pre-test and post-test scores to 75 which was carried out in October to November 2020.
This activity had done 3 parts of events. The first event was training for SCORP members about disaster management given by KOGAMI (Komunitas Siaga Tsunami) and CHRT (CIMSA’s Humanitarian Response Team) which was held on 2nd-3rd October 2020.
The second event is social media campaign which we used CIMSA Unand and SCORP members Instagram account to promote about disaster management and the Campaign is held on 22th-24th October 2020.
The third event is webinar, which was held at 15th November 2020, with the speaker from MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Managmenet Center), dr. Zuhdiyah Nihayati talking about disaster mitigation which includes vulnerable people. Meanwhile the moderator is from SCORP CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand alumni, dr. M. Syukran Gcianta Sabena.
Hopefully MANAPI could increase the awareness and knowledge of the participants about disaster management, especially in COVID-19 pandemic.
