This year, SCORA CIMSA UNEJ again held the Community Development MAMA “Maternal Acquaintance for Mom's Awareness”. The second intervention was held on September 1st, 2024, at Posyandu Alamanda 05, Patrang Village, Jember by providing directional education to pregnant women and posyandu cadres about “Maternal Health”. The intervention started with aerobic gymnastics as a form of healthy lifestyle activities and  continued with recall material education about antenatal care (ANC) using a quiz method with prizes. We hope this Community Development MAMA’s 2nd Intervention can be a good step to help CIMSA UNEJ achieve the goals for reducing the maternal mortality rate in Jember and create a healthier Indonesia!

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is the number of maternal deaths due to complications of pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium recorded in one year per 1000 live births at the same time. MMR is still one of the highest causes of death in Indonesia. In 2024, Jember is still on the 1st ranked with the highest number of MMR in East Java. MMR is influenced by several factors including general health status, education, economy, socio-culture, and health services during pregnancy and childbirth or what we call Antenatal Care (ANC). Therefore, CIMSA UNEJ held a Community Development MAMA (Maternal Acquaintance for Mom's Awareness) which aims to increase knowledge and increase awareness about maternal health of pregnant women, woman aged 20 until 45 years old, and posyandu cadres to reduce Maternal Mortality Rate in Patrang Village, Jember.

On Sunday, September 1st 2024, SCORA CIMSA UNEJ carried out the second MAMA intervention at Posyandu Alamanda 05, Patrang Village, Jember. The second intervention agenda begins with aerobic gymnastics as a form of healthy lifestyle activities. After that, the next activity was to recall material about antenatal care using a quiz method with prizes. In this session, the community will be answering the question about antenatal care and those who can answer correctly will be given prizes. After the recall session we also provide a post test to measure community understanding.

We hope that carrying out this activity can increase the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women and posyandu cadres regarding Maternal Health, and can share their knowledge with friends, neighbors, relatives and also help improve a healthier Indonesia.

Thank you CIMSA!
