Maternal mortality rate is one of the indicators and assesses the level of public health. The maternal mortality rate is an indicator that reflects the health status of the mother, especially the risk of death for the mother during pregnancy, and childbirth. In 2021, the number of live births in Indonesia is 495.556 with the Maternal mortality rate is 976. Which can be concluded that from every 100.000 births there are approximately 195 maternal deaths. Even though the government's target in 2024, MMR is at 183 deaths per 100,000 births. In addition, The SDGs have targeted that by 2030 there will be a global decline in MMR, which is 70 deaths per 100,000 live births (Ministry of Women's Empowerment, 2016). This figure is far from the target of the government and SDGs. Beside that, The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021 stated that the number of maternal deaths increased from 4.197 in 2019 to 4.432 in 2020. So, we can conclude Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still very high. On the other hand, CIMSA Indonesia also has priorities in various health issues, one of which is regarding high maternal mortality rate. So that CIMSA UNEJ as a member of CIMSA Indonesia wholeheartedly supports this with its community development, namely MAMA “Maternal Acquaintance for Mom’s Awareness”.
The first intervention was carried out on September 11th and received quite good feedback from the Stakeholder, which is Posyandu Alamanda 3’s cadre. The second intervention was held on Sunday, October 16th, 2022, from 8 to 11 a.m. In intervention 2, members of posyandu Alamanda 3 which is dominated by mothers who have children were given education using educational poster media with 1 educator. Before that, we held some exercise for mothers to keep their spirit and health. In addition, we also held a game session with prizes to keep mothers excited about our intervention. We also held a door prize session by giving groceries to mothers.
Overall, intervention 2 went pretty well. The mothers were very enthusiastic about our presence and they are waiting for our next arrival. We hope that this Comdev can continue and provide benefits for them.
