(International Women's Day)
SCORP&SCORA CIMSA FK UIN SH
March 8th, known as International Women's Day. Moreover, this year, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH held an International women’s Day campaign, with Rape Culture as the topic. In Indonesia, Rape Culture is a term used to describe people who underestimate acts of sexual harassment and even consider it commonplace and become a culture in the broader community. The stigma that exists in Indonesia blames the victim rather than the perpetrator. Based on Komnas Perempuan's data for the last 12 years in Indonesia, violence against women has increased eight times from the previous one.
Meanwhile, according to UN Women's data, 15 million worldwide young women have experienced rape, 1 in 3 women have experienced physical or sexual violence. Therefore, this campaign was carried out to increase public knowledge in Indonesia and awareness of Rape Culture to create a better social life without Rape Culture in it.
On March 2nd, 2021, we recorded a podcast. This podcast was posted on Spotify on March 13th, 2021. Della Zurahma is the host for the podcast, and Helga Rahmani with our special guest. As the speaker, Rani Hastari, as Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist from Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia). She is talking about the kind of rape culture currently happening, and it has been titled "Stop Rape Culture & End Victimization."
On the same day, we also made an educational video with some stories from women who had some rape culture experiences from the past to this day. The story in this video is taken from a platform that was shared on February 28th, 2021. A compilation of stories will then be read by members of the SCORA and SCORP CIMSA FK UIN SH. At the end of the video, there was also an educational video about Rape Culture delivered by Rani Hastari as Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist from the Plan International Indonesia Foundation (Plan Indonesia). This video was posted on Instagram via IGTV CIMSA UIN on March 13th, 2021.
We are also grateful to all those people who have been involved in the implementation of the campaign to celebrate International Women's Day. We hope that this campaign can have an impact on the social environment of the wider community.
