Interpersonal Medical Collaboration (INTERMEDION) is an event organized by DOME MSCIA UB in commemoration of HKKN (National Health Collaboration Day) which aims to increase knowledge of interprofessional education (IPE) in medical students. The small amount of events providing education about IPE gives INTERMEDION a big boost of innovation. Therefore, INTERMEDION is here to support efforts in organizing a more optimal IPE in medical dtudents. INTERMEDION was held on October 16th, 2021.
Interprofessional education (IPE) is a new discussion in the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Brawijaya. The application of IPE in FK UB itself is still in the process of being integrated into all of the five study programs. Of course, students must prepare themselves before IPE is optimally implemented in the medical faculty. Awareness of the importance of IPE in the learning process at the medical faculty and IPC in working in health facilities is the main objective of holding INTERMEDION. Aside from enlivening the National Health Collaboration Day, this event was also becoming a moment of real contribution for students in preparing for the implementation of IPE in FK UB. This common goal certainly was not run alone by the organizing committee because there are external collaborations in succeeding this event, such as BEM FK UB, Indonesian Young Health Professionals’ Society (IYHPS), and IPE Team of Medicine Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya. INTERMEDION was held in two main series of events: pre-training activity on IPE on October 8th, 2021, as well as talkshow and debate competition on October 16th, 2021 which was open for all medical students in Indonesia. The air campaign was also carried out to educate medical students about IPE and together celebrate the National Health Collaboration Day.
INTERMEDION 2021 was held online via Zoom Meeting. The first agenda was opened with a talkshow “Collaboration of Health Workers during Pandemic” delivered by dr. Aditiya Bagus Wicaksono from IYHPS and Apt. Nurus Sobah S.Farm., M.Farm.Klin. as the IPE Development Team in FK UB. Then a debate competition was held with material about IPE, movie clip, and several motions that were prepared. The motion raised was a summary of issues related to IPE that need to be proven scientifically, with a logical thinking process, and with the perspective of medical students themselves as health workers later. Through this debate competition, we hoped that participants were able to train their togetherness and teamwork, as well as increase their knowledge about the importance of implementing IPE for health workers. Students were also enthusiastic about welcoming this event as evidenced by the educational material which was attended by 130 students and 20 participants in the IPE debate consisting of various health study programs and universities.
