Diabetes is a chronic and progressive disease characterized by increased blood glucose level. Glucose is one of the three main source of energy. The glucose first broken down to smaller saccharides by insulin and transported by blood to body cells for energy. People who has diabetes, there is a problem with insulin regulations.

Based on data from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2017, there is still increasing diabetes epidemic in Indonesia and was ranked sixth in the world after China, India, the United States, Brazil and Mexico with a number of people with diabetes aged 20-79 years in the range of 10.3 million people. Meanwhile, Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2018 was explained that there was a significant increase in the prevalence rate, from 6.9% in 2013 to 8.5% in 2018. Anyone must be vigilant, because diabetes can affect anyone, including young people! From this data, we should take this as a warning sign that any people from any age is prone to having diabetes.

In order to commemorate the World Diabetes Day 2020 which is November 14 2020, CIMSA FK UIN SH held a webinar and air campaign called INSULIN, Increase Understanding and Realization of Diabetes, with the aim to increase public knowledge and awareness about diabetes. In the webinar, we have held a zoom meeting with dr. Hari Hendarto, Ph.D., Sp.PD-KEMD, FINASIM and dr. Nathania Sutandi, MRes from Sobat Diabet. They delivered directly to the 189 participants regarding diabetes, its complications, and early prevention methods for young people. After the seminar ended, the activity was continued with an air campaign through Instagram with the headline “7 Days Healthy Habits Challenge” on November 22nd-28th, 2020. Participants whom have registered, join the WhatsApp group to get all the information about the 7 Days Healthy Habit Challenge. The participants will upload their respective healthy ways of life according to the committee's directions everyday via Instagram. We hoped that with this series of activities, the community will know and care more about themselves and those around them related to diabetes and its preventive actions by starting to live healthily from an early age.
