INJECTION 1st & 2nd INTERVENTION
(International Journal Dissetion)
SCOPE CIMSA-BEM KM FK UNAND
According to research from Central Connecticut State University regarding the “World’s Most Literate Nations Rankings” in March 2016, Indonesia was ranked 60th out of 61 countries regarding reading interest. Followed with UNESCO data in 2016, the interest in reading of the Indonesian people was very concerning, which was only 0.001%. This means that out of 1,000 Indonesians, only 1 person is an active reader. Apart from low reading interest, English proficiency is currently quite urgent, considering the wide range of exchanges in various scientific fields from various countries makes us as the millennial generation have to master English well so that we are not left behind with other countries. According to data from the EF English Proficiency Index, Indonesia only achieved an average score of 50.06 for English proficiency, so it was ranked 61 out of 100 countries in the world and ranked 13 out of 25 countries in Asia. From these data, it can be concluded that English proficiency in Indonesia is still low.
Thus, SCOPE CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand promoted a Community Development to provide information and dissemination of International Medical Journals to Unand medical students to initiate a change in perspective on global health issues and improve English language skills which will be explained by English language course institutions and lecturer of FK Unand. INJECTION consists of several interventions which are expected to increase the interest of Unand Medical Education students to read and seek information directly from International Medical Journals and also to improve their English language skills and implement them through the publication of articles.
On September 27th 2020, SCOPE CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand has conducted 1st and 2nd intervention of INJECTION. For the 2nd intervention, we also share a material on “How to Write an Article’ which was delivered very interactively by Anisha Purnama as a member of SCOPE. The speaker was not only shares a material on how to make article in English, but also had a sharing session on how to choose the right grammar in an interesting and easiest way to understand.
We hope that all the learning that we have undertaken during these interventions can be utilized for the 3rd intervention by the participants and implements it as a good medical English article.
