IDoP-COFFEE
(International Day of Peace - Care About Refugees)
SCORP CIMSA FK UNS
SCORP CIMSA FK UNS celebrated International Day of Peace 2020 with the theme Refugees Health and Rights in COVID-19 Pandemic. Refugees are people who was forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. In the era of COVID-19 Pandemic, refugees have bigger risk to face life threatening crises. There are over 26 million refugees all over the world. By the year 2020, there are 13.623 refugees from 49 different countries in Indonesia.
To celebrate International Day of Peace 2020, SCORP CIMSA FK UNS held a series of event called COFFEE (Care About Refugees) on 8-9th October 2020. It contained two main events. For the first day, we organized a training and the second day was air campaign that was joined by SCORP CIMSA UNS’s members.
The training was held on 8th October at 19.15 - 21.15 pm and was delivered by Grendi Mercy as Human Rights Trainer. We used Google meet as our platform. Grendi Mercy gave training about COVID-19 effects on refugees health. He also talked about some obligation that our country needs to fulfill according to Human Right norms and the rights to health for refugees. There are 4 principals that our country needs to obey: availability of health services, accessibility which has 4 dimensions that interconnected one another, acceptance, and quality.
Air campaign was held on Friday, 9th October. We used Instagram story as our platform to do the campaign. All participant posted 4 different Instagram stories. The first page contained infographic about refugees in Indonesia. The second page told about refugees condition during COVID-19 pandemic in order to increase people/member’s followers and awareness towards the issues. The third page told people, especially medical students about what they can do to help refugees during COVID-19 pandemic. The last page was a twibbon that contained link that led us to a website of SCORP CIMSA Indonesia's charity for refugees so all participants needed to post a picture of themselves pointing downward where the link was showed. All participants also needed to cite hashtags #WhatAboutRefugees and #IDoPCOFFEE2020 and tagged 3 other friends outside SCORP to disseminate knowledge and impact to society.
By organizing IDoP-COFFEE, SCORP CIMSA FK UNS expects that medical students and society can improve their knowledge and awareness about refugees' condition and its rights to health during COVID-19 pandemic. Better place for people starts from a simple step we take.
