Unlearning Ableism is the theme chosen by SCORP-CIMSA to commemorate Human Rights Day (HRD) 2020. Ableism can be defined as discrimination or prejudice against persons with disabilities, which is reflected in the attitudes, norms of individuals, communities, and institutions; is a form of violations of human rights. What is unique about HRD 2020 is SWG Team is formed consisting of 7 members from different locals that plays a role in conceptualizing ideas and is directly involved in several series of campaigns.

The series of HRD 2020 social media campaigns took place from  November 30 to  December 12, 2020. The campaign began with a teaser video of interviews with society related to ableism. On the following day, an Instagram quiz was conducted that answers were discussed further in the infographic posts about the definition, legal protection of persons with disabilities, and microaggression ableism. Through the Twitter polling feature about agree or disagreements on several statements related to ableism in daily life. Besides infographics, SCORP-CIMSA also published several statements from the interviews with PPDI regarding struggles and hopes related to ableism in Indonesia.

The society and members can get involved in HRD 2020 by following the Instagram story challenge which was held from December 8 to 12. The challenge consists of twibbon stories where participants can upload their photos and spread the 2020 HRD campaign; blackout poetry where participants can compose sentences from several words selected from the template containing the stories that have been provided.

On the day of the Human Rights Day celebration, SCORP-CIMSA uploaded a campaign video through Instagram TV entitled “An Epiphany” which means a sudden and striking realization experience with the hope that the audience from the video will be more aware of the rights of persons with disabilities and ableism.

This video interview with Mr. Leindert Hermeinadi as chairman of PPDI DKI Jakarta & ms. Nurina Savitro as Amnesty International Indonesia Media and Campaign Manager. To conclude the HRD 2020 series, SCORP-CIMSA held an interactive talk show through the Instagram Live feature with ms. Marthella Rivera R. as the founder of Konekin and Mr. M. Rezki Achyana as CEO of Parakerja.

Through the celebration of the HRD 2020 campaign, it is hoped that all of us will be more aware and able to take action in fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities, especially the right to anti-discrimination to promote equality of dignity and human rights.
