MECO MMSA UMY
In order to support The National Doctor's Day on October 24th, 2021, Medical Education Committee (MECO) MMSA UMY brought useful activities to increase our appreciation to doctors in Indonesia who always struggle, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of this activity was “The Journey of Becoming a Great Doctor” with 5 activities; webinar, open donation, educational video, flower giving, and podcasts.
To conduct The National Doctor's Day campaign, MECO MMSA UMY collaborated with medical student organizations over Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta; HMPD SEMAKU, MARS, and TBM Alert. As a medical students organization, we want to give our appreciation to doctors even though from different organizational backgrounds.
On webinar and open donation, MECO MMSA UMY collaborated with the 3 medical student organizations. This webinar was held on Sunday 24th October 2021 by presenting 2 speakers from medical lecturers; dr. Denny Anggoro Prakoso, M.Sc., FISPH., FISCM with the theme "Choose Your Best Path As a Doctor" and dr. Oryzati Hilman, M.Sc., CMFM, Ph.D., Sp.DLP., Sp.KKLP with the theme "Answering The Medstud Concern: How I Get Into Residency?". This webinar was attended by 96 participants. The collected donations were given to 70 chosen people in Yogyakarta.
MECO MMSA UMY also made an educational video that showed the journey of becoming a doctor and doing some interviews with doctors. This educational video was uploaded on Instagram MMSA UMY and has been watched by 200 viewers.
To enliven the air campaign, MECO MMSA uploaded a podcast on Spotify. In this podcast, we talked about the update of the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia by the speaker from alumni, dr. Yudhi S. Nugraha, who experienced work in COVID-19 shelter.
At the end of this series, MECO MMSA gave flowers to 20 doctors in UMY as part of our appreciation.
National Doctor's Day which is celebrated every October 24th is a useful activity to increase our awareness to appreciate the services that have been given by doctors so far. In addition, this campaign also aims to encourage medical students to continue to be enthusiastic in pursuing their education.
