SCOPH CIMSA UNAIR

On November 14th, 2020, SCOPH CIMSA UNAIR celebrates world diabetes day by holding a GULALI webinar with the theme World Diabetes Day, ending the series of GULALI interventions since October 31st, 2020. The webinar was opened for the public and the GULALI cadres were invited to participate in this celebration.

With the COVID-19 outbreak still going and even increasing in number of cases, Indonesians have lowered their protection against the COVID-19 virus, therefore we collaborate with  Persatuan Diabetes Indonesia (PERSADIA) to hold a Webinar with the theme ‘Meningkatkan Kesadaran, Memajukan Upaya Pencegahan dan Memperbaiki Tingkat Kesehatan pada Diabetes’  with many doctors who are very expert as speakers. Apart from giving the material, there were talk shows, healthy cooking demonstration for people with diabetes, and insulin use demonstration by people with diabetes who were also members of Persadia.

This event was held for two days. On November 14th, 2020, at 08.00 the event started by singing the PERSADIA march, remarked by the chairman of the Surabaya branch of PERSADIA. Then, the Zoom meeting was divided into two breakout rooms so that the speakers could interact more with the participants. The event was opened with a talk show with the theme ‘Key Story of Diabetes’, presented by Dr. Rusli Rosandi, Sp.PD-KEMD, Dr. Hermawan Susanto, Sp.PD, and Dr. Jongky Hendro P.Sp.PD-KEMD. The speakers presented an interesting educational video by dividing it into 8 parts so that it was easier for the participants to understand. Later, it was continued with a question and answer session.

After that, it was continued with a demo of using insulin by Mrs.Tatty. This demo was held to teach the public the proper and correct use of insulin to avoid fatal mistakes. The event was closed with CIMSA introducing about GULALI and also post-test.

On November 15th, many demonstrations were held, namely diabetes exercise demonstrations, cooking demonstrations and also talk show. The event went smoothly and the question and answer session was interactive. There were approximately 500 participants and GULALI cadres also participate in this two-days  webinar. We hope this event brought many benefits to the broad community and could be better in the future.
