GADIS
(Gerakan Aksi Peduli HIV & AIDS)
SCORA CIMSA UMM
HIV/AIDS has always been one of the most thoroughly global diseases. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a lent virus that causes HIV infection and AIDS. AIDS is a condition in humans in which the immune system's progressive failure allows life-threatening infections and cancers to thrive. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, and breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells. HIV is transmitted principally in three ways: by sexual contact, by blood through transfusion, blood products or contaminated needles, or by a passage from mother to child. Key populations are defined groups who, due to specific higher-risk behaviors, are at increased risk of HIV irrespective of the epidemic type or local context. Key populations of HIV/AIDS, including men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, people in prisons and other closed settings, sex workers, and transgender people.
Globally, an estimated 38.0 million people were living with HIV at the end of 2019. Although it tends to fluctuate, HIV/AIDS cases data in Indonesia continues to increase year by year. Over the last eleven years, the number of HIV cases in Indonesia reached a peak in 2019 by 50,282 cases. Based on WHO data in 2019, there are 78% new HIV infections in the Asia Pacific region. For the highest AIDS cases for the last eleven years in 2013, that was 12,214 cases.
Based on the data above, it can be seen that the number of HIV AIDS cases in Indonesia is still likely to fluctuate. Therefore, we from CIMSA UMM held a girl campaign (Action Movement Caring for HIV AIDS) with the theme Raising Awareness on HIV/AIDS & Improving Reproductive Health. Coinciding with World Aids Day on December 1, to GADIS 2020, CIMSA UMM members simultaneously upload twibbon and captions on their Instagram. On December 5, a training was held by PETRA, which was attended by CIMSA UMM members. On the same day, it has also published the poster publication with media WhatsApp, Line, Instagram, and Twitter simultaneously.
On December 6, 2020, the highlight of the event, a webinar was held with the theme "Raising Awareness about HIV / AIDS & Improving Reproductive Health" filled by two speakers in the hope that explanations from the speakers can increase knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the importance of maintaining reproductive health. The first speaker was Dr. dr. Afif Nurul Hidayati, SpKK(K), FINDS-DV, FAADV as a representative of PERDOSKI who gave a material entitled "Maintaining Reproductive Health in Efforts to Prevent HIV/AIDS." The second speaker was dr. Rahmat Puziyanto as a representative from Angsamerah who gave a material titled "HIV Prevention."
GADIS 2020 can be done well and informative. With the materials that have been given by Dr. dr. Afif Nurul Hidayati, SpKK(K), FINDS-DV, FAADV, and dr. Rahmat Puziyanto and the sharing sessions that have been given, we hope that the explanation from speakers can increase the knowledge and capacity of CIMSA UMM members and the broader community about HIV/AIDS and the importance of maintaining reproductive health. With increased awareness about HIV/AIDS and reproductive health, we hope it will impact increasing preventive measures that can reduce the number of ODHA.
