Children's health is one of the main concerns that needs attention. Various conditions often affect children, such as fever and seizures. However, some parents still have misconceptions about handling children who are experiencing seizures and fever. EPIPHANY (Enhancing Parents Involvement, Preserving Children’s Health) held its first intervention which aims to address the difficulties parents face in handling fever and seizures in children. The first intervention aims to provide accurate information on the appropriate actions to take when a child has a fever and seizure to PKK members as community representatives at that time.

There are two main activities in the first intervention. The first one is a socialization session on fever conducted by a pediatrician. This session focuses on providing an overview of how to handle children with fever, and an introduction to dengue fever, typhoid fever, and leptospirosis as initial information to give participants an understanding of various types of fever. In this socialization activity, participants were highly engaged in listening and interacting with the speaker, sharing their daily experiences involving both their children and people around them. This is certainly beneficial as it allows participants to clarify any misinformation regarding health, particularly on the topic of fever.

The second activity is a socialization session and workshop led by a doctor. This activity introduces the general condition of seizures, how to manage seizures in children at home, and seizure conditions that require specialist intervention. Similar to the previous activity, participants were also actively involved in discussions with the speaker, sharing real-life experiences they had encountered. In addition to receiving the material, participants were invited to practice firsthand how to handle a child experiencing a seizure, directly practiced on a model under the supervision of the speaker.

The activities went as expected, with participants attending until the end in a conducive manner and gaining valuable information. It is hoped that they will be able to apply the knowledge acquired in their daily lives. Active participation from the attendees is certainly essential, involving attentive listening and discussions with the expert speaker. This ensures that the material is well understood and can later be disseminated to the broader community.
