Cultural Day is an annual routine agenda carried out by DOPE and DORE as a means of introducing Indonesian culture to incoming and vice versa. differences in cultural backgrounds between incoming and organizers are a gift that can actually glue each other. This year's Cultural Day was held in two series to welcome incoming students in July and August. Each series has been carried out successfully and was able to bridge the culture of each incoming and host.
The Cultural Day event in July was held at Waroeng Paman Restaurant on July 23, 2024. Beginning with the opening by the committee then Incoming invited to enjoy the performance of regional dance compilation by the committee, regional dance treats are a new breakthrough and are the result of a rombakan that is able to amaze the Incoming who attended. Then the introduction of typical food from each region was carried out. Each Incoming brought one regional food each to be introduced to the committee and other Incoming. It seemed that everyone who was there that night was surprised and amazed at the taste of food that had never been tasted before.
Incoming was then served with traditional food prepared by Waroeng Paman wholeheartedly. After eating all the food, Incoming was provided with tea and orange juice as a thirst quencher while having fun chatting with other incoming as a fatigue reliever. Then the organizers invited incoming to play a game together as one of the steps to get closer and provide a memorable experience for incoming. game participants rotate around several chairs that have been arranged in a circular manner with the background of regional music, every time the music stops the participants grab the limited number of chairs by sitting down. After that, we listen to impression of the event by the incoming, and it was so heartwarming.
The series of Cultural Day events in August was held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, starting with the opening held at the FKUB gazebo, incoming gathered in the morning to listen to directions and agendas that would be carried out on that day. Next, the incoming was introduced to batik. Rumah Batik as the provider explained and demonstrated how batik was made and became one of Indonesia's intangible cultural heritages. Incoming and the committee seemed enthusiastic to try batik and coloring.
Then Incoming was invited to enjoy lunch at one of the lesehan places in front of the Malang station while waiting for the next agenda, which was touring the city of Malang using the Macito bus. incoming was presented with a bright but cool view of Malang City during the day. see the historic sites of Malang City and listen to the local tour guide. The evening agenda was held at Kalibrantas Coffee. Incoming enjoyed the evening with a typical unfortunate mask dance presented by the unitantri. Then, a performance from the committee that made everyone present at that time feel entertained.
Incoming also brought one specialty food from each region. then each other explained what was brought and tasted each other's food. the next agenda was also a performance by incoming after everyone felt entertained, everyone who attended this event enjoyed a typical Indonesian dinner. So finally, the 2024 Cultural Day was completed with satisfaction, bridging cultures coming from other parts of the world, and making an unforgettable experience for both parties.
