CORVETTE
(COVID-19 Prevention with Vaccine)
CIMSA UGM
Several weeks after the President of Indonesia got his first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine throughout February, CIMSA UGM conducted interventions to show care, support, and actively participate in voicing the importance and urgency of COVID-19 vaccination. Based on the pure concern of vaccine rejection and hoax among the people, supported with pre-project assessments filled by Indonesians across 17 different provinces, CORVETTE started its activity by recruiting volunteers.
Our primary data, which is filled by more than 300 responses, shows that most of them had ever got information and were interested in COVID 19 vaccination information. Sadly, they were just a passive listener even though they agreed that COVID-19 information is easy to access. The data also show that society's information is hard to trust as the number of hoaxes and misinformation is high. Social media is on the top list where people get information about the COVID-19 vaccine from the data. So that we choose several social media platform to educate the people
Committees and volunteers got the chance to do social experiments through OmeTV to know first-hand about people's perception of the COVID-19 vaccine. They were pretending to be medical personnel that was offered to get a vaccination. The goal of the social experiment is to know the way people think about vaccination and covid. At the end of the experiment, we reveal ourselves as medical students and educate them about the misinformation they had mentioned. They also got to have a conversation with doctors and alumni who had experiences with COVID-19 vaccination to get further information in a LINE group chat meeting. We invited three of our seniors and alumni members who were general practitioners and knew well about Indonesia's vaccination development.
CORVETTE created a WhatsApp broadcast series to tackle hoaxes known to spread through the said platform quickly. The broadcast consists of facts and myths about COVID-19 vaccines; there were also attached links to find access to reliable COVID-19-related sites easily.
CIMSA UGM's most trusted and impactful campaign method is also used in this activity called "Campaign from Home." Its committees, volunteers, members, and officials try to gather their friends and families through online platforms like Zoom Meetings and Google Meet. They can sit comfortably in their own home in a living room and educate them independently using prepared PowerPoints in a specified range of time.
Overall, data and information gathered throughout the activities were packaged into the broadcast message, twitter threat, Vaccine 101 Handbook, and collaboration with COFIGHT. Also, Instagram TV shows a recap of the social experiment, PowerPoint materials for Campaign from Home, and infographic publication in every CIMSA UGM's social media. CORVETTE then ended with an Instagram Live and a presentation to the KMFK-KMK UGM in hopes for a more united and massive movement where we can address the COVID-19 issue until the pandemic ends.
The presentation to the KMFK-KMK gave really positive feedback. All department and student organization in the faculty agree to do a massive activity to educate more people about the COVID-19 vaccination
